| This is an example of a scoop. It would probaby have been used for dry materials, such as sugar, salt or grains. A ladle would have been used for liquids because the 'bowl' would not be open on one end for the liquid to spill out. For dry materials, especially those carried and stored in a bag or sack, this type of scoop would have been the ideal tool. |
