The first mention of lands held by this family were those of Muirhead. In the charter of 1393, a deed of land granted by Archibald Douglas to William of Muirhead, it was noted that(7.11):
“Archibaldus Comes de Douglas, Dominus Galovidiae & Bothwel, dicto ƒcutiƒero ƒuo Willielmo de Muirhead, of his Lands of Muirhead, in Baronia de Bothwel.” |
