Information recorded on the 1840 U.S. Census:
* Name of the county and city, ward, township, parish or precinct. * Name of head of family. * Number of free white males and females in the following age groups: * under 5 years, * 5 to 9 years, * 10 to 14 years, * 15 to 19 years, * 20 to 29 years, * 30 to 39 years, * 40 to 49 years, * 50 to 59 years, * 60 to 69 years, * 70 to 79 years, * 80 to 89 years, * 90 to 99 years, * 100 years and over. * Number of male and female slaves and free colored persons in the following age groups: * under 10 years, * 10 to 23 years, * 24 to 35 years, * 36 to 54 years, * 55 to 100 years, * 100 years and over. * Number of white deaf and dumb persons. * Number of white blind persons. * Number of insane and/or idiotic persons. * Number of white persons over the age of 20 who cannot read and write. * Name and age of Revolutionary War pensioners. * Number of persons employed in seven classes of occupations: (mining; agriculture; commerce; manufacturing and trade; navigation of the ocean; navigation of canals, lakes and rivers; learned professions and engineers). |
